This video has enjoyed over 6,000 views and follows the Chariot parade through the streets of George Town. A truly amazing Tamil festival held every year in Penang ( Jan/Feb ). The festival commemorates the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a Vel ( spear ) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman. It is commonly believed that Thaipusam marks Murugan's birthday. A real 'must-experience' in Penang.

Spinning one of the tales of Islam through dance, Kuda Kepang brings alive the Wali Songgo ( Nine Saints ) of Java who rode through Java on horseback, transfixing audiences with stories of their faith. The Kuda Kepang dance is performed accompanied by a rich rendition of traditional music played with Malay and Javanese instruments such as gong, gendang, saron and angklung, with the rhythm mimicking the galloping of horses. Presented by PUSAKA in collaboration with their partner-performers, the Kumpulan Kuda Kepang Parit Raja, for the George Town Festival.
